I don't have any support heroes (buffers) besides strictly healers (I have Destina, Achates, and Angelica). The only other 'buffers' I got are Yuna, Doris, and Silk.
Amtrol invented the first indirect-fired water heater, using the existing energy in a boiler system to minimize fuel use and maximize hot water output. More efficient than conventional gas or electric water heaters, BoilerMate indirects provide more hot water, use less energy and require no venting or additional utility connections.
So, Elson is the only one that has everything: Defense buff & attack buff for 3 turns (using 10 souls), and attack break on his S1 (75% chance when upgraded at that, which is crazy good), and a meh healing S2.I'm thinking of investing in him and equip him with a 4Speed/2Effectiveness set, Wondrous Potion Vial for the artifact to remove debuffs, get the necessary skill upgrades (the 25% extra chance on his S1, and -1 turn cooldown on his S3), and maybe get him to 60.The only issue I have is that everyone says he's really bad. And I'm EXTREMELY afraid of putting all those materials into him only for him not to work out and not pay off.Can someone help alleviate my fears? He really is my only support that does everything. The theory crafting I'm doing is telling me he can turn out to be a beast. Am I crazy here? Is he really that bad?. His kit is still the same though.

Consistent Attack break which helps surviving, build him bulky and slap on a candlestick like anyone else with insanely long cooldowns (I'm used to running Doris and Destina so 5 turn is nothing.) and he's still the same old Elson. Build the team around the buff, to maximize the buff duration. Longer turns mean more time to build souls to burn it for a 3 turn buff. Destina's main heal/Cleanse is 5 turn CD which is the same as Elson with Molagora investment. S1 and 2 utility were not adjusted. S2 healing is kind of trash imo, but Attack break is solid as a support debuff. The thing is that most people automatically think that every turn your character gets is a DPS phase. But if you check back to my previous sentence, some people think in phases and not arena 'Oh it's my turn kill kill kill!'
If you plan for your buffs, and play conservative on downtimes then you will always benefit. Now I still recalled him, and kind of regret it because at the time I didn't have this train of thought; but after running raid a few times I realized that there is an underlying layer of strategy that can be solely created by the players themselves by thinking deeper than what they see on-screen.Stay motivated OP. He took a hit, but he's not completely unusable. Do you have rin?
I ran her instead of elson and then got diene so replaced rin with her. IMO I wouldn’t invest in him unless you really really have no other unit to use.
Once you get someone better like rin or Doris or even pyliss your elson will be useless and just sit there. Just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt since there will be people who have different opinions and say I’m wrong.Edit: I reread your post. As the person above me said, Doris+ Yuna/hazel is better than elson.:) good luck and hope you get a good replacement soon. Use him as your last option.
Or if you have a maxed candlestick i dont use him since i have better suports but if you dont have atk buff or constant def break you might want to use him. However remember his cds are long and (as mentioned in other comments) his s2 heal is trash so look for ways to reduce his cd like the candle. I would still suggest to look for a suport with less cd (like hazel) but is up to your team building and what gacha wants you to have. Use your head and you will go far.
